We meet at Marion Harding High School’s Community Room.

penn--alan-2013_webAlan Penn of Medina, Ohio, is immediate past president of Kiwanis International. He was elected in July 2011 at the 96th Annual Kiwanis International Convention in Geneva, Switzerland. He previously served as trustee, vice president, president-elect and president.

Alan is a member and past-distinguished president of the Kiwanis Club of Medina Breakfast and former member of the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood, Ohio. He also is a charter member and past distinguished president of the All-Ohio eMedina and the Tombstone, Montana, Internet clubs.

He served with honors as governor of the Ohio District in 1999–2000 and was Key Club district administrator, counselor to Circle K International, member of the Kiwanis International Foundation board, and serves as executive director emeritus of the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation.

Alan served multiple terms on international committees, including the Key Leader program and curriculum development teams, before election to the international board. He is a Diamond-level, three George F. Hixson Fellow, Tablet of Honor recipient, Rose Float Fellowship member, and Heritage Society member of the Kiwanis International Foundation. He has received the Key Club G. Harold Martin award, is an honorary member of Circle K International, a Mel Osborne Canadian Foundation Fellow and a member of the Ohio District Kiwanis Hall of Fame.

A former teacher, school administrator and university instructor, Alan has served on the Medina City Council and the Medina County United Way board. He has served his community as a Red Cross, American Heart Association, Garfield Elementary School and Head Start volunteer. Alan served on the Ohio Governor’s Community Service Council for eight years—four as chairman—and the American Association of Community Service Councils for seven years. In 2008, Alan was recognized by the Ohio Governor’s Council as the outstanding community volunteer for Ohio.

Alan and his wife, Jeri, a member of the All-Ohio eMedina Kiwanis Club, are parents of two children, both Kiwanians, and have two grandsons and one granddaughter.
